LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN AT THE ASYLUM
Posted by The Grand Wizard on March 29, 2015, 10:48 pm
BEFORE:
"I am very excited to be making my Asylum debut," says Eiza with a smile. "Especially against Gemma Arterton. And, yes, I can beat her. Just sit back watch!"
"She clearly has talent," says a hard-eyed Gemma with a nod. "But, she's getting into the ring with an elite lightweight tonight, and that's not going to go well for her."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside..."
McCarthy: "And, what is THAT noise?"
Tess: "See, there's PREP material you could read that would tell you the song is called 'You Will Remember Me', and it was a hit for the woman coming down to the ring, the lovely Eiza Gonzalez..."
McCarthy: "I've never heard if Eliza Gonzalez. I'd never even HEARD of her before she fought Swanepoel. I've heard of Eliza Dushku. I've even heard of Eliza Coupe. But not Eliza Gonzalez..."
O'Dell: "THIS is going to be a fun. Gonzalez down the aisle and into the ring. Helped off with the robe to reveal a red bikini and quite the body, and that's 'London Calling' by the Clash, and here comes 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton!"
Cassie: "Uncle Wiz, of course, has said several times that Gemma is as good a fighter as Front Street has..."
McCarthy: "Which shows how LITTLE The Weirdo knows, as Torv and Sobieski are CLEARLY superior..."
O'Dell: "Gemma into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that violet number and quite a body of her own. Ladies getting ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Gemma. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Arterton's not nearly as good as Weirdo thinks, but this Eliza chick is as green as grass. Arterton."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "First about ready to get under way, and look at this! Gonzalez stepping to behind her left jab and she wants to dig body here. Gemma not going to give ground, banging back heavy and we've got some serious fisticuffs going on right in the center of the ring."
Cassie: "We saw some of this from Gonzalez on the beach against Swanepoel, but banging body isn't the recipe I'd pull out of the box against Arterton..."
O'Dell: "And Gems showing us WHY, as she backs up Eiza with a good flurry to the head. Gonzalez right back forward, however, dropping heavy shell, standing in, getting some power behind everything..."
McCarthy: "This isn't what I expected to see from this kid..."
Tess: "Like Cassie said, Mac, we saw some of it against Swanepoel..."
O'Dell: "Arterton landing some very solid shot here. Eiza not backing down, though. She's determined to trade, to work body, and Arterton's liking these terms just fine. There aren't many lights as sturdy as Gemma, and there aren't many who hit as hard, either. Gonzalez a good left hand and Arterton a BLISTERING right at the bell. Backed Eiza up a step, but the Mexican steps forward and gives Gemma a stare. Arterton smiles and turns back to her corner. She's got the first round, but Eiza definitely unbowed."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second underway and Eiza right back to Gems. Arterton using the feet, slipping, stepping in, banging the midsection and ribs. Eiza tying, shoving off, digging body of her own, getting length and power on those punches..."
McCarthy: "You know, a lot of Mexican fighters are pressure fighters. They go high volume, point blank. But, this is different..."
O'Dell: "It's different, all right, and it brings back some memories for me. Gonzalez using that left to establish the range, steps into the right hand, putting all that length to good use. Arterton, who's giving up a sliver of reach having no trouble negotiating that. Dipping and bobbing, hooking body with both hands."
Cassie: "Eiza pretty ring savvy for a girl in only her second FCBA fight. She's doing a lot of little things in there to establish her distance. Knows when to clinch and shove, wants full extension and doing a good job of getting it."
O'Dell: "Meanwhile, Gems now wants to close a little, work that body with hooks. And you can HEAR the effects. It's like she's thumping meat hanging in a freezer. Gonzalez wincing at times at the impact, but not backing away. Instead, the Mexican digs some body of her own and there's the bell and another staredown! Very close. I went Gonzalez."
Tess: "Which evens us at 19 after two."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins on the same terms we've seen in the first two. Eiza stepping to, Gemma holding ground, and the two lights going to work banging body, exchanging hard shot..."
Tess: "Jenny, I want to get back to something you said last round, about Gonzalez's style bringing back memories for you...would the lady you're referring to be another exotic brunette..."
O'Dell: "It would, Tess. If I squint, I see a young Ali Landry. And THERE'S A SWEEPING LANDRY RIGHT BY EIZA AND GEMMA'S BUZZED!"
McCarthy: "Set that up with a stiff left and landed it right on the button!"
O'Dell: "Arterton covering and giving ground, backing to the ropes and going into the pocket. Eiza winging away, getting a little sloppy here, but it's working for her. Gonzalez missing a lot and bouncing a ton of leather off Gemma's guard, but she's keeping Arterton on the defensive and she is landing the odd heavy cuff..."
Cassie: "Gemma starting to bang back a little more now, Jenny. Seems to be shaking the effects of that right hand."
O'Dell: "That she does, and we're seeing more two-way action in the final seconds. Arterton landing a SWEET right-handed stroke in counter that backs Eiza up at the bell. Gonzalez's round though. And wide."
McCarthy: "Which puts Eliza up 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "We're into the fourth now and Eiza's right back at Gemma. Gonzalez sticking the long left home, stepping into right hand follows. Arterton slipping past the guard, getting in a step closer, banging body. Eiza negotiating the distance again, palming that left to Gemma's head almost like a wrestler..."
Cassie: "Gonzalez showing a very good understanding of geometry for a girl with so little FCBA experience."
O'Dell: "No question of it. Gemma muscling forward now, banging the ribs with hooks, looking to crowd Eiza a bit. Gems doesn't want to be toe-to-toe, but she wants a bit less space, and she's using her strength advantage to enforce terms...."
McCarthy: "Arterton really banging body now. It's almost all downstairs this round. She's investing big time..."
O'Dell: "And she comes back up with a right hook and Eiza's ROCKED! Gonzalez wobbled late in this round and Gemma is all over her! Arterton going big girl, bullying her rival back to the ropes and going to work. Gems RIPPING body on the Mexican beauty, who's in a high, tight guard. Eiza crouching, trying to protect the body, but Arterton thumping away at it, banging hooks to the side of the head, looking to finish, but running out of time. There's the bell. Fourth is history. Arterton wide."
Tess: "38 all with six to go."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "We begin the fifth with Gemma coming forward for the first time. The Brit no longer content to hold ground, she wants to take canvas from Eiza, stepping forward behind that heavy Front Street left jab. Gonzalez banging her own left out, trying to establish her distance, but Gemma pre-empting, walking through, following the lefts with hard rights, backing Eiza up..."
McCarthy: "Eliza's getting outmuscled here. She can't stand in front of Arterton."
O'Dell: "Doesn't look that way, but it's not stopping her from trying. Gonzalez bitterly contesting every inch of canvas. Gemma resolute, BANGING out that left, controlling Eiza with it, hooking off it to the body, lathering the flanks, tenderizing the tummy. Gonzalez trying to fire back in counter, but Gems just sweeping the Mexican beauty before her with salvo after salvo of heavy shell..."
Cassie: "AND THERE GO EIZA'S LEGS! Left hook!"
O'Dell: "Gonzalez stumbling back, nearly going down! She's up againstthe ropes in a high, tight guard, leaning back, putting the body on sale, and Arterton taking with abandon, BLASTING hooks into her ribs, PLOWING leather to the midsection. Gonzalez again leaning forward with tight elbows, trying to get some cover for the body..."
McCarthy: "Give this kid credit for hanging in there, but this is BRUTAL stuff..."
O'Dell: "Eiza clinching, but shoved off. Gemma right back to digging body, reducing the Mexican right to the bell. Another wide round to Gemma."
Tess: "48-47, Arterton at the half."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: We begin the sixth with Arterton clearly looking to finish. She's walking right through Eiza now, backing her up, walking her down. Gonzalez still game, firing back with everything she's got at every opportunity..."
McCarthy: "Again, give her credit, but Arterton's about used this kid up to the body..."
O'Dell: "Gemma clinical now. Hard jabs to set up right hands. Squaring Gonzalez up, keeping her in front, keeping her going backward until there's no place left to go. Eiza fighting off the ropes again now..."
Tess: "Gemma right back to that body. Eiza's all pinked up below the bust line, and that pink's going to be a different color tomorrow..."
O'Dell: "Eiza again bending forward, using the elbows to protect the body while keeping the guard tight...AND GEMMA SPLITS IT WITH A LEFT UPPERCUT! EIZA WOBBLED AND DOWN SHE GOES AFTER A RIGHT HOOK!"
McCarthy: "Ref needs to waive this off if the kid gets up..."
Cassie: "After that head swivel, all he has to do is count."
O'Dell: "Eliza on her right side, parallel to the ropes. Count at four. Five. Six. Seven. No sign of movement. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's over! And your winner in sledgehammer fashion, 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Gemma Arterton. Gems, were you surprised at how physical she is?"
Gemma: "Absolutely. I saw the video of the beach fight, so I knew the style to expect, but she's stronger and sturdier than she looks. But, I knew she couldn't beat me that way. There are a lot of girls she can do that against, mind. But she wasn't going to out-physical ME."
Tess: "What's next for Gemma Arterton?"
Gemma: "We're taking the opportunities as they come right now. The goal is a shot at the belts. Between now and then, we'll see."
