Bridget Regan versus Daniela Ruah

Before: A Club membership can be so elusive. How does one earn their way in? Each club has its own requirements. The training camps assembled for professional athletic teams make each participant answer one question repeatedly, “How badly do I want to be here?” The most exclusive yacht and golf clubs decide if a prospective member will measure up in their trustee board rooms. Sometimes there seems as many different requirements as there are clubs. In the FCBA welterweight division there are few rules but they have seemed insurmountable to many. First, win a championship and, of course, beat Regan and/or Righetti. Tonight a fighter will try and accomplish both requirements in one fell swoop.

“Hey I know what I’m up against here. Bridgy Regs is one brutal competitor but so am I. This is the ultimate fight for a welter but I deserve to be here. I’ve worked hard to get here so I plan on winning this fight and make this division one fighter larger.” Daniela Ruah explains with succinct logic.

“You know besides Rigs, Danie may be the most physical fighter I’ve gone up against so this is a definite challenge. Still when this is over I don’t want to still be champion, I expect to be. Let’s get it on!” Bridget Regan counters.

Rd 1 Muscular beauty on display in both corners as both fighters look to be in the best conditioning of their careers. Daniella out quickly looking to dominate and dictate the terms of the fight early. Quick, powerful jabs lick at Bridget Regan’s face while Ruah moves laterally around the redhead. Regan composed while dodging most of the strong arms aimed at her head. She lets off a strong combination that just misses a shifty Daniela Ruah. Ruah moving with confidence steps in and lands two punches before dancing back out of Bridget’s range. Both fighters wanting to be aggressive which has the crowd on its feet. Powerful punches are bouncing off of hard muscles making some very loud booms which resonate throughout the arena. Ruah again able to bounce in on Regan and land a strong right hand to the midsection which doubles over Regan. As bell rings Ruah struts back to her corner looking tall and confident having won the round by staying well clear of Regan’s fists.

Rd 2 Ruah not letting any previous success go to her head. She’s out with hands over her face in a classic defensive stance ready to take advantage of any openings that Bridget will give her. Suddenly Front Street girl goes on the offensive. Daniela moves in again, now very confident that she can damage Bridgy Regs with her well timed assaults. Unfortunately Regan ducks Ruah and connects with a left hand cross that catches her side and doubling her over. Daniela narrowly missing the following right to the head that would have no doubt put her to sleep staggers away happy to still be on her feet. Regan pursues Ruah like a pit bull after a meat wagon, chasing her down against the ropes and pounding away at Daniela’s body with an occasional swipe at the head. Meanwhile Ruah recovered enough to go from covering up back to some offense. With her back against the ropes Ruah starts swinging away. Meanwhile Regan shifts to poking at Ruah with left hand jabs. Both girls scoring with regularity and the crowd is responding with some serious noise. Ruah forces her way out from the ropes taking punishment with every step as the round ends with Regan on top.

Rd 3 Ruah out for the round still determined with fire in her eyes. She’s jabbing away at the big redhead from the get go. Regan smooth and quicker dodges the long reach of Daniela assessing the situation for a moment and then a sneaky right hand lashes out catching Ruah just underneath an outstretched arm. Regan backing up the well built brunette with a barrage of combinations. Ruah reduced to covering up against the ropes again. Regan slamming Daniela with lefts and rights coming in at a furious pace. Front Street fighter covering up effectively but punches are getting through and the crowd watches Ruah’s head occasionally snap back from a Regan jab. Ruah fans are left to wonder how a fairly even fight turned into a Regan tornado in mere seconds. Ruah gamely trying to muscle her way out and away from the ropes but Regan is just as strong and quicker cutting off Daniela at every turn as the bell sounds.

Rd 4 Daniela having seen Regan at full bore is far more cautious this round. Front St beauty moving and jabbing, keeping her distance. Regan now looking at keeping Ruah in the corner where she can control her. Ruah jabs, jabs, jabs and throws a right hand that catches Regan. Regan counters with her own jab and a right hand that if it had hit Daniela would have landed her somewhere in the next week or so. Ruah keeps up the pressure gaining more confidence with every punch. Regan seemingly content to counter punch and keep Ruah at bay. While a very laid back strategy Regan is still landing punches to the body. Ruah steps in with some short punches as she burrows in on Regan with her head down. She forces the Irish lass up against the ropes and begins hitting with side shots to the body. Regan is taking the punishment with ease and occasionally banging on Ruah’s head from up above. The pace of the fight has slowed considerably which is fine with Daniela. She knows that she is controlling things this way, up close against the ropes rather than out at center ring where the Bazz girl’s speed and agility is close to impossible to stop or with the big redhead on the offensive against the ropes where she is so strong. The round ends with Ruah mauling Regan up close to the body and with enough points to win the round.

Rd 5 Regan gets a talking to from Poindexter Del Crunchy in her corner between rounds shaking her head in agreement as the big Scot gesticulates wildly. She comes out to center ring and gets to dancing with Ruah. The two fighters are throwing jabs when Daniela tries to muscle in attempting to put herself in the same up close fighting position as the previous round. As she gets closer to Regan the Bazz girl twists her body unleashing a right hand to the Front Street girl’s side doubling her over and just as quickly a left hand cross catches Ruah across the jaw and DOWN GOES RUAH! Daniela on her hands and knees thinking about things as Regan retreats to a neutral corner and the ref begins counting. Ruah gets up on her feet at seven and then gets an additional eight count from the ref who, checking her out closely lets her back into the fight. Ruah looks good until Regan starts in on her again and it is obvious that she is hurting. Regan blasting away now and punches Ruah is withstanding are brutally powerful. Regan connects with a left and then a right to the head and just as Ruah is beginning to wilt against the ropes the ref steps in a hugs her out of the fight. RD 5 TKO and still Welterweight Champ Bridget Regan!

After: Bridgy Regs hangs with Daniela Ruah in the center of the ring. Ruah not showing much weathering from the previous round as they talk briefly and then hug it out. “She’s a big strong girl, there’s no doubt about that. That was a big combination I knocked her down with and she got back up. That’s showing me something. Still I am tough too and tonight I just got the better of it.” Regan comments from her corner. When asked about what was said at center ring the muscular redhead responds. “She just told me that it wasn’t her night. She wasn’t making any excuses because I’ve seen her fight enough to know that she’s right. She’s better than that. We’ll fight again. I’m sure about that and believe me I won’t be taking Daniela lightly.”
