ADELAIDE KANE VS ALEXA VEGA (Foxfire Boxing vs Empire Boxing) (Words: Archer / Results: Lookout)
“I am glad to be finally starting my 2015 campaign,” Adelaide Kane cheerfully told the reporters at the pre-fight press conference, “and I chose Alexa because she gave my former PLP stablemate Ashley Benson such a vigorous battle before Ashley knocked her out. I think she’ll be just the fighter I need to get back in action.”
Alexa Vega doesn’t exactly seem honored at being handpicked by Addie: “What’s she’s not saying she that having lost her last two fights in 2014, she wants someone she can beat. You will notice I am 5’1 to her 5’4. I’ve lost my last four fights (though to good fighters, so I feel no shame in that). She thinks I’m some petite jobber she can just run right over. Well, sorry ‘Queen Addie’—your reign ends against me!”
Addie scowling: “You have absolutely no sense of humor, do you?”
“Not when it comes to breaking my losing streak—it’s ending with you. Live with it!” Alexa declares.
“You little guttersnipe, I shall take pleasure in demolishing you. I am sure you’re used to it by now,” Adelaide huffs.
Fight night finds Adelaide in an elegant dark purple bikini with black edging and little golden crowns sprinkled across the purple. She wears dark purple boots with gold laces and black gloves with purple laces. A purple ribbon holds her dark hair in single ponytail. Alexa Vega is in a blood red bikini with matching boots and gloves. Blonde hair twisted into a battle braid. Icy hostility during instructions as Adelaide tries to use her three inch height advantage to intimidate the smaller blonde. Alexa holds her ground and stares Addie down until referee sends them to their corners to start the bout.
R1: Addie out crisply at the bell and starts hammering away at Alexa. Smaller blonde trying to fight her way to get at the brunette, but gets her face banged up and her belly hooked repeatedly. Alexa forced to pull back and regroup, but Adelaide right with her, banging Alexa’s head from side to side as Alexa buries her face in her gloves. Addie shifts attack to hammering just above the waistband of Alexa’s bottoms. Alexa grunting, but gets her jab going at last and Addie gets her head knocked back by some strong jabs to the face. Addie ducking back and swinging around looking for openings, but Alexa keeping up with and using the jab to keep the Aussie back. Adelaide looking frustrated as the round ends, but she is the clear winner on the cards.
R2: Adelaide showing some quick moves as she closes in on Alexa, drawing the blonde off balance and allowing Addie to bang the sides of her opponent’s head. Alexa looking a little sluggish after repeated bell-ringing and moves back behind her jab. Adelaide feeling dominate tries to bang her way in past Alexa’s jab and gets her breasts and belly jabbed hard, but she is rewarded with some clear uppercuts to Alexa’s chin. Alexa clearly feeling those impacts and doesn’t waste time in pulling back. Addie following eagerly, trying to get at that chin again, but she’s neglecting her guard and takes some straight rights and lefts in the face as Alexa shoots leather in over Addie’s lowered guard. Addie knocked back especially by one strong right that catches her between the eyes. However, Addie quickly switches to defense and uses jab to keep Alexa from taking advantage, Adelaide wins another round, but Alexa’s showing more resistance.
R3: Adelaide tries some circling around Alexa trying to surprise the small blonde with shots from unexpected directions. Alexa moving nimbly now and Addie is having trouble getting her shots on target. Then Alexa suddenly does a counter-shift that catches Addie by surprise. Alexa rams a hook deep in Addie’s gut, doubling the brunette over and then pumping uppercuts into Addie’s chin and face. Addie recoils in shock, nasty cut has opened over her left eyebrow and she is having trouble organizing her defenses. Alexis quick to take advantage of Addie’s confusion with overhand rights and lefts that bang Foxfire boxer’s jaw and make her fall back. Alexa’s arms just pumping away to Addie’s midsection forcing towards the ropes. Adelaide looking cornered, but she is finally able to use jab to halt Alexa’s advance and avoid a knockdown. Alexa takes her first round and smiles as Addie stares at her bewilderment with a little trail of blood dripping down her face from that eyebrow.
R4: Foxfire corner manages to patch up that eyebrow cut and wave some smelling salts under Addie’s nose to make sure she is fully awake for the next round. Still, Adelaide is slow off the stool and cautious as Alexa heads for her. Alexa using her mobility now and she soon has Adelaide trying to keep up. Ironically, this is what Adelaide tried the last round and it didn’t work. Alexa able to find openings and strike Adelaide’s head from unanticipated directions. Addie get chopped up as smash to the mouth splits her lip and a hairline cut opens on her forehead. Alexa gaining confidence decided to try to work her way in close. Addie using jab now and Alexa get some punishment to the body, but Alexis scoring again and again to the body. Adelaide retreating, she again manages to avoid the ropes, but Alexis racking up the points on the judges’ card as she wins her second round wide.
R5: Adelaide told she needs to get back on the offensive and slow Alexa down. Addie nods and shows more energy this round as she charges at Alexa. Alexa lets her come in and then they just hammer away at each other at mid ring, moving around each other for the most part, but hanging close. Bodies and heads getting a lot of punishment this round. Some red splotching now visible on Alexa’s jaw and cheeks, as well as across her belly, but she’s got Alexa cuts reopened though it’s more like little drips of crimson than alarming streaks of blood. Doesn’t look good though, but Adelaide showing burning determination to get the elusive small blonde and late in the round her body attack finally opens Alexa’s chin. Addie bangs some quick one-twos off the chin and Alexa’s body shudders under these impacts. Addie tries to get more, but Alexa backs up smartly and bangs Adelaide back with her jab. Two circle and punch to the bell. Adelaide wins the round, though it’s a close one.
R6: Adelaide seems to think she’s found the key to cracking Alexa Vega its pure aggression. She hammers her way forward, trying to pump blockbuster shots into the smaller blonde, but Alexa again using her mobility to evade the heaviest of the these blows. Then when Addie misses with a right cross that goes whistling over a ducking Alexa’s head, the blonde rears up from her crouch with a right uppercut that started around her ankles. Punch shoots between Addie’s gloves and flush into her chin. ADELAIDE KANE KNOCKED OFF HER FEET! Highlight reel quality punch lifts Addie off her feet and flings her back with a crash that shakes the ring! Crowd is stunned for a moment from sheer surprise but then explodes in cheers (and groans from Foxfire supporters) as Addie just lays there, legs outstretched, arms sprawled over her head, eyes fluttering helplessly. Referee moves in but it’s clear Adelaide Kane has been knocked out and very shortly the 10-count confirms it.
The winner: Alexa Vega (KO6)
After: Alexa Vega drops to her knees and bursts into happy tears. She scrambles to her feet and waves happily to her cheering fans. She looks pleased as Adelaide Kane is brought around and helped to her stool.
“I am so glad I proved that snotty Adelaide Kane wrong,” Alexa happily tells the press. “I knew I could beat her and I left her stretched out cold in her royal bikini. Hope this teaches her a lesson on watching who she mouths off to! This is such a great night for me. I couldn’t be happier!”
No one is surprised that it is the next day before a battered and shaken Adelaide Kane speaks to the press: “What can I say? I got careless and she put me down. She’s a tough little fireball. No, I don’t think I underestimated all that much, I was hurting her, but I just couldn’t quite believe she had the power to knock me out. I was wrong about that and will take it as a lesson learned. It was a big disappointment, but I will be back and be the winner.”
Some call that R6 finished a Punch of the Year candidate, but Alexa showed she’s learning. She seems to have found a way to beat bigger flyweights and that should serve her well as her career progresses. A definite setback for Adelaide Kane, she might have been able to wear Alexa down if the fight had gone on longer, but sloppy defense doomed Ms. Kane. We will have to see if she has truly learned from this loss. Overall, a pleasing fight to watch for the fans with plenty to action right up to its sudden end.
