EVA MENDES VS SUMMER GLAU

BEFORE: It's been a while since Summer Glau featured in back-to-back PPV action however her last victory over Meghan Markle triggered an instant challenge from Eva Mendes who plans to make her 2015 schedule very busy indeed and match-ups like Glau can only improve any fight card out there across the country. Even if neither of these two women threatens the divisional title picture, there are still two of the most exciting to watch and simply put people in seats; the power of marketing presence is as equally important for the SSB executives as the actual giant-killing runs of Claire Holt and Laura Vandervoort.

It's also a perfect way to expose that world famous bendy brunette legion again, Summer effectively invented this style of boxing and new LCA head coach Claudia Schiffer has made Eva Mendes wary of the threat and ordered severe training against Odette Yustman who remains the bendiest of the lionesses and was given a PPV leave of absence after Katy Perry lured Mary Elizabeth Winstead away from the previously agreed contest. Mendes' experienced enough to know her way around the rings without Schiffer's advice but durable-wise it's Glau on top of the page and one has to wonder if Eva will enforce the all-in tactics as soon as possible to dwarf Summer's menacing stock?

Eva Mendes wears her trademark leopard top, black knickers and matching gloves. Brown hair in loose waves tucked behind the ears. Summer Glau wears a black bikini set and red gloves. Brown hair tied in a high ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Eva blasts out of her corner and starts jabbing at Summer's body from the getgo however fails to slice the guard with real power and simply invites the younger actress into a classic dust up where Glau becomes more effective and drills Mendes' navel to reel her back down the stretch. Summer settles into overhand swings thereafter and peppers the high guard which slows Eva down and shuts her off in mid-distance; a desperate effort to regain the aggressive stance becomes fruitless though and Summer spikes the mitts aside to snap the head back and push the older actress away as a result. Eva barks in anger but just can't work around Summer keeping the distance and eats a late flurry over the top again to give the dominant brunette a really long death stare after the bell.

Round 2:
Mendes tries to square up to her foe early in the second again but the fast approach from Glau leaves her stranded instead and Summer works the high drill to smash the gloves aside and give the older actress another jabbing frenzy. Eva's head snaps back and as the repeated slaps half-turns her into earmuff cover down the stretch and enables Glau to send piercing jabs on the liver area. Summer keeps the pressure on afterwards; buries the slow moving and clearly overwhelmed rival under a flurry of leather and pounds her back to the ropes where she triggers an uppercut galore to split the mitts and make solid connection with the exposed chin. Eva sags on her knees and yelps in disarray as Summer traps her butt-in-ropes and works the uppercuts to race away on the cards and just dump the older actress in all sorts of bother at the bell.

Round 3:
Summer didn't even have to revert into her famous bendy antics thus far but she shut off Eva's intended fast approach in excellent fashion and now the Latin actress looks on the verge of blowing her fuse already as she jumps into a chaotic frenzy aimed at Glau's head but struggles to make it count and gets clinched and shoved away in the middle of the ring instead. Down the stretch though both women settle into a close range exchange and Mendes spikes her foe's ribcage to gain some confidence and send Glau into circling escape. She tries to wear the older woman down but has to think better off it as Eva blasts a hooking cross through the middle and finds the nose, adds a quick follow on on the temple and bumps Summer right off. Before Glau can regain her stance she gets wrenched around the elbows and trips back towards the ropes where Mendes comes crashing down on her and snaps the ponytail back with a drilling hook just before the bell.

Round 4:
Eva's eyes glare with utmost disdain but Summer plays with her mouthguard and seems unmoved by the death stare at all. The frantic action is resumed and Mendes cracks an overhand on the eye to sink Glau on her heels and enforce the bendy escape down the stretch; it's the most committed approach from the Latin woman yet and she swings around the head to keep the fellow brunette on her toes but lacks a really big punch to firmly establish her comeback. Glau's happy to weave around and allow Mendes to lose her breath before a late push digs her mitts into Eva's guts. However Mendes wrestles Glau back and jumps in with another cross hook on the nose to make Summer regret the change of tactics; a late flurry snaps Glau's ponytail around her neck and dumps her on the turnbuckle with a loud scowl and Eva tears the skin under her left eye with the last punch of the round before being dragged away by the referee.

Round 5:
Eva's in a feisty mood after that terrible start and targets Summer's head again, the younger actress resumes the aggressive approach though and doesn't seem to care much about the nasty shiner under the left eye. Both women trade heavy leather but Glau shows superior precision and slams the older brunette on the mouth with a big one-two before staggering her with a measured hook to the liver. Eva wobbles forward with a loud whimper and fails to put weight behind her response, basically falls into a drilling uppercut on the jaw that whips her on the heels with eyes closed and paves the way for a flurry of Glau leather. Summer jumps into head hunting frenzy and pounds Mendes' face into a rough shape as the older woman just can't raise her arms in defense and trips over in a failed attempt to escape the heat. Summer closes right up and cracks a double combo on the temples to sink Mendes on wobbly knees along the ropes and switches down on the breadbasket to make the Latin lioness scowl at the bell with some epic tummy butchery marking Glau's comeback. Ref has to separate the two hellcats again and this time Summer really wants to add more insult to injury as she swings inches over Eva's slumped head; the older actress suffering badly after that midriff assault late in the round.

Round 6:
Summer squares up to the older woman again and easily ducks a sluggish overhand approach before blasting an uppercut on the leopard top and digging her left hand into the ribcage to stun Eva with a loud yelp in the middle of the ring. Glau leans on her and ravages the exposed guts before wrestling Mendes to the side and beating her for another overhand swing... Mendes gets nailed on the brow ridge and just can't plant her feet properly as Summer pounds her back & forth with more facial jabs, now slicing the mediocre high guard at will... she thumps Eva on the nose and shuts her eyes before landing a right handed cross on the eye and just SENDING THE LATIN VIXEN DOWN ON HER SIDE... Mendes crumbles under the onslaught and has a hard time in getting her breath back... she beats the count at eight but looks a spend force and the durability questions will be raised again for granted... she doesn't have much strength left in her to avoid a looming barrage as Summer closes right up again and sends a flurry of jabs on the head to rock Eva's hair around her neck and simply drive her onto the ropes where she pierces the navel in repeated fashion.. Eva struggles to find a single punch in response and effectively bellows out into a whimpering mode on Glau's shoulder as the younger brunette looks keen to chop her in half... the yelping changes into an anguished scream and one last hook to the liver breaks Mendes down... she spits out her mouthguard and is quickly embraced by the ref who drags the rampant Summer away before she inflicts further damage on the aching Latin warrior... TKO6 Summer Glau!!!

AFTER: Summer in feisty mode after the stoppage, she tries to nuke Eva with a late punch and becomes vocal, trashes her with a loud tirade before finally settling down after Mendes needs to sit down and bellows out into a smoking mess display. There's still that nasty cut below Glau's left eye but she looks absolutely PUMPED over this well-earned success. Perhaps those comments about her being way off the title picture made her really angry and she did everything she could to convince the community that beating Mendes is still a valuable result?

"Nobody needs the Claire Holt hype anymore!", Summer says after the fight, "I deserve as much credit as all those blondes who think they owe the division! It's been a while since I got a really big push myself and I'm thankful to Eva for such a great showing! That of course includes her folding like a cheap tent! I knew she can't last the distance with me as I'm the most durable girl around the place! If someone like Anna Silk can get a title shot then what then heck am I doing on the outside? Needless to say I expect great thing along the summer months... nobody can afford to ignore me anymore!"
