BEFORE: The Highlands' redhead Karen Gillan still rues what might have been scenario after pushing final-bound Sarah Lancaster all the way over a month ago and promises to at least claim the European bragging rights in the 5th place contest against England's very own Michelle Ryan. Both these girls share a BBU history however they never fought each other back in the old country and will do everything to make the latest BBU crossover ideas and plans as valid as possible. "Welterweight offers us the best shot to show all the damn naysayers that BBU isn't exactly a minor league like some Tractorpull pundits would like everyone to believe!", Karen says before the fight, "We're as mean and effective as all those American lingerie models or other Baywatch veterans! And whoever wins tonight will carry a positive Revival record so that's worth the price of admission already!"
Meanwhile Ryan plans a major coup in the upcoming weeks and if only she can send the redhead packing, she's poised to earn herself a couple of really interesting CBAD fights according to the insider sources. And all this regardless if Gemma Atkinson actually wins the whole show to lead the BBU welterweight flagship in the months to come! She supports Karen's comments but would still love to knock her out for a good measure!
Karen Gillan wears a dark blue bikini set with St. Andrew's cross on each cup and black gloves. Red hair in loose curls, tied in a very loose ponytail. Michelle Ryan wears a black bikini set with white trim and red gloves. Long dark brown hair straight, tucked behind the ears. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in ther welterweight division.
Round 1:
Redhead power to the fore as Karen sets the early pace and whacks Michelle straight between the gloves and snaps her head back to dominate the initial exchange. Michelle struggles in the enforced close range and has to cover up quickly as she allows the redhead to maintain the aggressive jabbing and only circles around in avoidance. However she's unable to break free of the Scottish foe and gets picked off one by one while missing her response badly and not bothering Gillan at all. Karen stands tall down the stretch and keeps headhunting the brunette who's cumbersome stance surprises almost everyone in the Caesars Palace arena as Gillam punishes her cheeks almost at will come the bell.
Round 2:
More of the same in the second; Karen has the intimidating factor on her side and chases a spooked brunette around the ring; she makes her single punches count and snaps Ryan's head back & forth until the finally nails her with a left cross and sinks on the ropes half way through the round. Michelle tries to respond from the back foot but is only whipped against the ropes after more facial misery; Gillan scowls in her determination to further punish the English lass and romps her on the eye with a heavy left hand; Ryan stumbles forward with a quiet whimper and eats another cross before the bell; Gillan bumps her against the turnbuckle in the dying seconds and threatens to literally shove her through the ropes and out of the ring calling referee into action as the clock expires.
Round 3:
BIG PUNCH RYAN! The English girl finally gets the better of her foe and ducks underneath a high approach before clubbing Karen's solar plexus and moving up for some jaw checking. Karen's head snaps back and she's briefly staggered mid-ring which enables Michelle to follow up with more venom as target the otherwise pretty Scottish face. Gillan bellows out into deep cover rather than answering back with full esteem; she slows the action down afterwards but Ryan still bumps her off towards the ropes and sticks to her uppercut assault leaving Karen in need of more clinching to survive the round late on.
Round 4:
Gillan seeks a fresh start but gets beaten for the overhand approach as Ryan tags her across the mouth and lands a big right on the eye to make the redhead scream out her loudest of the night yet! On comes the brunette with more uppercut menace and she splits Gillan's mitts in supreme fashion to land heavy facial leather as both girls settle into a flyweight like trading brawl... the precision rate drops down the stretch though which signalls these two aren't exactly Top 10 divisional ranking material as of now; still Ryan's uppercuts make the more damage and bend the Scottish lass forward into a clinching struggle; a quick hook on the temple finally has Karen sagging on the ropes just before the bell and Michelle's right back into the groove which hardly anyone expected after the terrible opening two rounds from the English brunette!
Round 5:
Both girls have set out for instant facial damage and the lack of body attacks becomes really visible now as the single punching trade off continues with Michelle just that little bit quicker and adding more lumps to Karen's face. Gillan's stubborn in her stance though and prevents getting pummelled back to the ropes settling into the mid ring exchange that lacks pure agility and speed as the clock winds down. It's almost like both women realize they don't have enough in them to score immediate knockdown at the very least and will try to dig into their stamina resources later in the fight. The sheer numbers support Michelle who lands almost twice as much shots on her rival but even making Karen's face match her hair color doesn't bring any solace as the Scottish lass bumps her English rival off at the bell and verbally abuses her losing the temper for the first time tonight. Michelle just flicks her hair and shakes her glove in disgust as she weathered the early storm for a good reason and won't allow any mindgames derail her summer plans at Gillan's expense!
Round 6:
Yeah, Karen seems to be the one losing her cool here; she's up early for the sixth and shadow boxes almost right into the brunette's face who looks to resume the uppercut galore immediately after the bell but gets clinched instead. Both women shove each other off following a brief scuffle but as Ryan fires away and misses a right hand hook, she gets whacked by a drilling left hand on the solar plexus herself and has to catch her breath amid a sudden stagger. GILLAN ROCKS HER with a left/eight combo on the mouth and spins some black hair around the arena to gain instant support from the crowd... More facial banging follows and Michelle just can't raise her gloves in time to cover up for the thundering assault. Karen pounds her on both cheeks and makes up for her own swelling, cuts Ryan's nasal ridge and dumps her against the turnbuckle to turn up the heat! A clubbing series leaves the English brunette moaning & swaying on her feet but there's no clinching respite here anymore... Gillan with another piercing jab on the solar plexus that sinks Ryan into a yelping despair; another right hand on the nose whips her against the ropes and the bell couldn't come any sooner for the pulverized brunette as the Scottish redhead runs away with a massive round!
Round 7:
Michelle struggles to stay sharp after that terrible round and this time Karen's all over her body to trigger a new punishment tactics... Ryan has to drop her arms to protect her ribcage but still gets pierced around the elbows and is pummelled back against the turnbuckle. She tries to clinch the Scottish girl but falls into an uppercut barrage splitting her mitts and Karen wrecks her jaw with a brutal combo to shut her eyes in the proccess... A barrage of uppercuts dumps Michelle's head rocking all over the place before a vicious left cross bursts her nasal ridge wound open AND SENDS HER TUMBLING DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE in the neutral corner... Gillan leaps like a salmon having delivered a crushing series to dwarf the brunette and the count passes Ryan by; she's unable to rise from her bums and slumps into a sobbing mess with blood seeping from her damaged nose... KO7 Karen Gillan!!!
AFTER: It's all Karen post fight who demands elite activity based on her second consecutive victory! She grabs the mic and tells the audience: "The redheads frickin' rule! I'm not as good as Amanda and Cassidy yet but hell, I'm good enough to rain on anyone's parade! Forget the BBU girls being the random punchbags! I've got it all to become a Top 10 ranked fighter! The looks, the attitude and the Lookout! Boxing support! I'm destined to succeed and there's always a place for late bloomers in this league!" She glances over at Michelle Ryan who needs to be helped off the canvas before resuming her tirade: "OK, so Michelle wanted some Boxing After Dark action and allegedly signed some papers already! I'm sorry but guess I'm gonna take over her schedule from now on? Everyone knows Michelle Trachtenberg's phone number so if you're bold enough to challenge me, just make that frickin' call! I'm waiting for you!"
More glamour seeking antics from Gillan follows as she refuses to leave the ring and indicates she could give both Paula Patton and Megan Gale a good test and wants to announce both these fighters in the upcoming third place contest however once the coverage resumes after the commercials, she's seen talking to Boxing World Online journalists and probably either spreading some locker room gossip or giving details about her upcoming schedule.
Final result: Karen Gillan def. Michelle Ryan KO7.
