CHRISTINA HENDRICKS VS GWYNETH PALTROW

(Words: Anon / Results: Lookout)

"It's definitely shaping up to be one of my more challenging fights," said Christina Hendricks immediately before her match against Gwyneth Paltrow. "She's done quite well for herself against some serious competition. And you can't exactly ignore her career outside of the ring either. So obviously the stakes are really high for me tonight."

"It's unfortunate that I'm stuck accepting challenges from forgettable opponents," said Gwyneth Paltrow in her statement to the press. "I mean, I've crushed championship level fighters. I should be at that level of competition getting a shot at the belt. Sadly, I don't have access to the people I'm really mad at, so tonight I'm going to be taking out my frustrations on my opponent."

Making her entrance first, Gwyneth Paltrow wore white trunks and bra. Shortly after, she was followed by Christina Hendricks in purple.

Round 1:

At the bell, Paltrow and Hendricks dove straight into the action. The decision proved disastrous for Paltrow, whose weak performance in the first few seconds allowed Hendricks free reign to strike as she pleased. Paltrow rallied, but failed to respond meaningfully, fighting as hard as she could to merely break even and falling short of that on multiple occasions before the first round ended.

Round 2:

Paltrow, more respectful of Hendricks after a one sided first round, entered the fight more cautiously in the second. Keeping her strong redheaded opponent at a distance with a careful offense, Paltrow danced out of the way when Hendricks attempted to force the sort of confrontation that had caused the blonde so much trouble in the first round. Hendricks chased Paltrow about only to be beaten back repeatedly. While hardly out of the fight, the redheaded actress' flushed cheeks and frown at the end of the round told the crowd all they needed to know about the state of the fight.

Round 3:

With each woman having proven herself dangerous, neither seemed eager to take risks as the third round began. Paltrow continued her strategy of hitting and running, and this time Hendricks seemed content to allow her to do so, exchanging punches with the blonde actress when it was convenient. While this resulted in a slow paced round, Hendricks periodically slipped quick straight punches through Paltrow's guard, while the blonde failed to return the favor consistently.

Round 4:

Again, Paltrow and Hendricks chose to play it slow, thumping their fists against the other's guard as they zigzagged in and out of each others' reach. However, this time Paltrow was less willing to retreat. While she managed to stand up to Hendricks much better than she had in the first round, the redhead's punches landed often enough to keep her off balance.

Round 5:

By the fifth round, it seemed that both women had dug in with the expectation of a drawn out fight. Hendricks, ahead on points, seemed content to add to her lead, not needing to take a risk. Paltrow, in the opposite situation, needed a big swing in her direction, but seemed to simply be waiting for Hendricks to make a mistake. Unfortunately for the blonde, she made the first blunder herself, zigging when she should have zagged and planting her chin directly on Hendricks' oncoming fist. Her punishment was severe as Hendricks took advantage, battering the blonde with a powerful left right combination before she could escape. Once again, Hendricks simply maintained her lead, but in the second minute she pursued Paltrow, pecking at her defenses before sneaking in a left hook that surprised the blonde completely. Obviously worn down by the damage she had taken in the round, Paltrow stumbled backwards a few steps before collapsing in the corner. With a hand on the ropes and a pained expression on her face, the blonde was up in a few seconds, able to survive the remainder of the round in the ring with her now cheerful opponent, but only barely.

Round 6:

While Paltrow managed to get off of her stool for the sixth round, it was clear that she would need a miracle to last to the seventh. The beating Hendricks had given her had left the blonde actress slow to react, timid, and unsteady. Hendricks, characteristically, played the round conservatively despite her advantage, swinging at Paltrow to keep her under control and waiting for her to be worn down further. While no one blow was winning Hendricks the fight, it was obvious that Paltrow was faring worse, not better as time passed. Without warning, Hendricks saw her opening and took it, striking Paltrow on the chin full force with her weight behind it. Paltrow pivoted on one foot and collapsed, landing face down on the canvas. By the count of three, Hendricks had stopped paying attention to her downed opponent; it was obvious that the fight was over -- KO6 Hendricks.

A cheerful, smiling Christina Hendricks greeted the press as they rushed her all at once, attempting to win her attention for a moment. "My plan was to go up against somebody tough, but I guess plans don't always work out," commented the victorious actress as Paltrow allowed herself to be hauled out of the ring, tearfully leaning on an attendant. The blonde's swollen face made it clear just how badly the fight had gone. "Of course, there's always next time. I hear Catherine Bell's pretty tough, after all, maybe she can last a few more rounds with me?"
