EMILY OSMENT VS JANEL PARRISH

Before: Two rookies square off against each other as they both try to establish their celeb boxing careers. IFFI’S Emily still best known for co-starring on the Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” series, but more recently she’s been starring in ABC Family’s “Young & Hungry”. Janel Parrish, best known for her supporting role on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars”, but she also was a finalist in Season 9 of “Dancing With The Stars” Janel recently signed to a tryout contract with Pretty Little Punchers so she’s eager to show what’s got to her new management.

At the pre-fight blonde, bubbly Emily trying to seize the PR high ground: “I didn’t win my first fight so I am ‘young and hungry’ to get it. Oh I know all about Janel—ABC Family is a small world and you soon know whose got boxing talent and who doesn’t. I never heard much of anything about Janel. I think she’s mostly just hype, living in the shadow of the main stars of the PLL./ I am not saying she doesn’t have fans, that’s probably why PLP gave her contract—they need all the fans they can get even if its Janel Parrish. Now I am sure Janel will mention I lost my debut fight, but I lost it to Cassie Scerbo, who is a proven fighter. Poor Janel actually lost to someone named Jennette McCurdy. Sad, sad, but at least this time people will know who beat her.”

Brunette, olive-skinned Janel sits smoldering as Emily chatters on throwing trash in all directions, but she is calm as she goes to the podium.

“You have to understand, poor Emily spent all that time under the shadow of Miley Cyrus and now she gets a little sitcom that wouldn’t be noticed at all if it weren't for being on the same network as MY show. So I am willing to ignore her pitiful insults because, after all, I have actually won a fight. I got that UD10 on Kat Graham do not forget. I didn’t do so well against Jennette McCurdy—who was a lot more trouble than Emily seems to think. Well, I am out to erase the memory of that setback by erasing Emily from the ring.”

“You got me scared now!” Emily called. “You’re the one who should be scared—of me!”

Janel glares at the blonde: “I will never be scared of you!”

Tension continues on fight night as Emily and Janel stand opposite each other, bouncing up and down in their eagerness to have at it each other. Emily in bright blue bikini, matching gloves and boots. Janel in white bikini with white gloves and boots. Blonde hair is braided and piled on top of Emily’s head. Janel goes for an elaborate battle braid with a white ribbon woven into her dark hair. Two slam gloves together instead of the traditional touch, leading swiftly to spontaneous “test of strength” as each tries to push the other back. Emily takes a step back just as the referee breaks it up. Janel grinning as though she just won a round, while Emily looks red-faced and humiliated. Once referee restores order, the fighters are sent to their corners, but the sound of the bell brings them rushing out.

R1: Excited young fighters unleash on each other at midring. First couple of punches miss as both girls able to evade these big, sweeping would-be blockbusters. However moments later Janel’s right hooks into Emily’s left breast cup and Emily’s instinctive counter right caroms off the side of Janel’s head sending her stumbling to her left. Emily trying to get in front of Janel grabs her left shoulder and tries to spin the brunette around. Janel comes around but with her right hand in motion and delivers a crush blow to Emily’s face, right between her blue eyes. Emily backing up on trembling stems as a smirking Janel moves in close to belabor her breasts with sweeping rights and lefts. Then Janel steps back and hooks Emily’s stomach to double her up. Janel then trying to get some uppercuts into Emily’s face, but the blonde wraps her arms around Janel to oblige the referee to separate them. Janel tries to resume the attack, but Emily’s got a decent jab going and it is enough to keep Janel circling in frustration not able to land the finisher she wants to land. Still, Janel takes the round on points.

R2: Janel at Emily quickly this round, but the blonde’s not surprised again and meets the brunette with some hard hooks to Janel’s olive skinned tummy. Janel hunching up and Emily sneaks an uppercut in under Janel’s gloves to pop her in the chin. Janel now in retreat trying to clear her spinning head. Emily hopping after her, going first to the midsection and then giving Janel’s bust line a vengeful scrubbing. Janel not liking this suddenly turns in close and her right elbow cracks off the skull. Emily staggering away to the ropes sinks to her knees, clutching the ropes for support as referee sternly wags his finger in Janel’s face and tells her she’s breaking the rules, Janel hangs head and doesn’t argue the point. Meanwhile Emily has climbed the ropes and cleared the cobwebs. She assures ref that she can go on. Janel lunging at her but gets greeted by a blazing straight right that slides over her gloves and into her nose. Janel staggering back holding her abused nose as Emily swoops in to pound Janel’s guts just above the waistband of her trunks. Janel all hunched up and defensive. Emily dancing over Janel raining leather down on her quarry. Janel moving, trying to escape, but only the bell stops the pounding. Janel still holding her nose as she retreats to her stool. Emily, hands on hips, watches her hurt foe go with a satisfied smile.

R3: Janel all but snarling with fury bursts off her stool and tries to shove Emily back into her own corner. Emily’s back hits the turnbuckle with Janel pressing against her. Referee seems as surprised as Emily and is a few seconds slow to get in there to pry the brunette off the blonde. Emily is moaning and clutching at her crotch. Oh! She’s claiming Janel kneed her! Janel loudly saying it was an accident. Referee and the judges didn’t see it so it’s not clear if Emily was the victim of a low blow or Janel is a victim of Emily histrionics. Referee finally gets order restored, but the two young women are glaring at each other with fresh fury. The moment the action resumes they throw themselves at each other with wild, revenge-driven leather slinging. Boxing purists shake their heads at the lack of cold-headed accuracy, but most of the crowd on their collective feet cheering the petite brawlers on. Janel the first to remember this is supposed to be a boxing match and bangs Emily’s jaw with a series of frenzied rights. Emily backing away takes some long seconds to reassert her jab. Janel forced to be cautious once the blonde’s jab score to her body and face. Janel does maintain a steady pressure on Emily to the bell and she wins the round.

R4: Emily’s got an ugly red swelling on her jaw, but she’s also got motivation and uses it to march on Janel Parrish as this round begins. Janel clearly expecting to resume her offensive gets a flurry of blonde hooks to to her waistband then Emily heaves a left into Janel’s face clipping that swollen nose. Janel scrambling back, she’s hurting as blood drips from her nostrils, but she keeps her guard together and Emily is unable to get at her. Emily then shifting to pound away to Janel’s body. Janel trying to jab the blonde back, but it’s not working. Best Janel can manage to keeping to midring and away from the ropes. Emily stalking to the bell and wins this one wide.

R5: PLP corner people working hard to stop the bleeding on Janel’s nose. Janel looking hurt, but defiant as Emily leers at her from her corner. Janel trying to retake the offensive early. She is helped when Emily spends a lot of early time trying to get at that nose and not succeeding. After the first minute, Emily forgets Janel’s head and goes back to thumping hard leather into the brunette’s midsection. Janel starts to freeze up from the machine gun-like punches ravaging her guts. Senses the weakness and just pours it on with all-out effort. Janel’s knees suddenly give way and Emily slips back as Janel sinks to her knees, then her face falls forward into the canvas leaving her butt pointing skyward. Emily gleeful at the sight all but skips to the neutral corner to watch the count. Janel groaning as she tries to push herself up but only succeeds in falling to one side the rolling on her back, her right arm across her eyes to block out the overhead lights. She rocks from side to side, but can do no more.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!”

It’s over! The Winner: Emily Osment KO5.

After: Emily gives a war hoop and leads into the air pumping her right arm in victory. She runs around the ring as fans cheer her on and then back to her corner to have her gloves removed. Then she across the ring like a shot to drag a dazed Janel off her stool. She pins Janel’s right arm behind her back, then marches her around the ring on a triumphant first Walk of Shame. It takes Janel a few moments to realize what is going on and she starts trying to twist free. Emily uses her free left hand to grab the waistband of Janel’s trunks and yank up in an agonizing wedgie that brings a squeal of pain from Janel. Walk continues until she thrusts the moaning, humiliated Janel into the arms of PLP’s Danielle Campbell.

“Let that be a lesson to you kid,” Emily informs young DC. “you play dirty—I play dirty right back.”

Danielle gulps and nods, but then helps the suffering Janel from the ring.

A wild rookie contest that saw some brawling, some boxing, and some dubious punching. All and all an entertaining contest for most fans (if not the more purely boxing-minded) by two young fighters who made up in energy what they might have lacked in shrewd ring generalship. It should be interesting to see where both fighters go from here. Fortunately, they both have management, so the chances are, they both be back in the ring soon.
