BOXING ON THE BEACH FROM WAIMEA BAY, HAWAII - MAIN EVENT
Posted by Lookout! Boxing & Vassago on June 15, 2015, 11:55 pm
BEFORE: We're done with the undercards over at Waimea Bay and the local crowd simply cannot wait to see the Hawaiian finest warrior making a home appearance next. It's none other than Nicole Scherzinger making a long-awaited trip back home and threatening to make this the most watched beach boxing contest worldwide ever which is helped by her opposition, the self-acclaimed Queen of Beach pouncing, Laura Vandervoort all the way from up north in Toronto!
Nicole hoped to enter the Waimea Bay full of confidence after another win over Sienna Miller but suffered a really ugly wake-up call during the last PPV and now adds pure revenge factor to her presence which is exactly the same feeling that dominated Vandervoort's preparations. The blonde Canadian is on a three fight losing streak after going down to veterans Claire Danes and Eliza Dushku but what really left the Foxfire Boxing worried happened on the same night Scherzinger succumbed to Miller and that's one of the bantamweight upsets of the year with Lizzie Olsen routing Laura into a painful stoppage. Vandervoort just can't accept losing four on the spin and doesn't care about the entire crowd supporting Nicole's return; if she dwarfs the Hawaiian curse and retains the beach pouncing glory then nobody will remember her recent troubles, nobody except perhaps Yvonne Strahovski and Odette Yustman who both voiced their Scherzinger love on twitter just minutes before this Main Event.
Speaking of which, there's a real buzz in the Waimea crowd who were promised a local Queen of the Beach brawl between the Hawaii Five-O mainstay Grace Park and Nicole Scherzinger only to see it crushed by a contract clause that officially prevents Nicole from facing her former Front Street Gym stablemates ever again. "Apparently they won't allow it even for a million bucks!", Nicole says it's outside of her power to enforce the Park cliffhanger, "Of course I'd love to nuke Grace and show her who's the real kahuna over here but I'll settle for Laura any day of the week instead! They don't know what they're losing... but given how they've wasted Kat Dennings' tits for nothing it doesn't surprise me at all... "
Enough of the politics, let's go down ringside, Laura Vandervoort has declined fighting in the open sand due to allegedly hostile crowd but still steals a massive roar appearing in a golden one-piece curved on the tummy leaving just a thin layer across the navel to connect the two parts of the outfit. Nicole Scherzinger wears a silver bandeau bikini top and matching knickers. Both girls with neon gloves, Vandervoort green, Scherzinger purple. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1: Laura's quick to establish some beach pouncing authority and makes full advantage of her longer reach; she spikes Nicole between the arms and prevents the close range tactics many of the viewers predicted will bring a Hawaiian success in the main event. Both women are determined to return to winning ways but Laura's lethal in execution early on and forces her opponent back much to the crowd's dismay; few angry screams urge Scherzinger into taming the blonde's charge but a couple of swift hooks on the temples simply tremble her to the side with arms dropped and enable the Canadian to power further ahead and bury the singer onto the ropes in the final seconds. Laura's fast tempo proves way too much to handle for Nicole who only gives the blonde a really long look after the bell; the actress remains unmoved and quickly struts back to her corner.
Round 2: More mid-distance slugging snaps the raven hair back & forth inside the opening minute and the Hawaiian crowd begins to lose her temper already as Laura remains unbelievably quick on the loose surface and sticks it into the singer's face time and time again making her yelp in discomfort much sooner than anticipated. Nicole sends few wayward shots but fails to catch Vandervoort properly and retreats onto the ropes under a heavy onslaught as the round goes on; she leaps to the side in a desperate effort to avoid a looming overhand assault and has Laura bouncing off the ropes to finally break the Canadian logjam; she rips a right hand straight between the gloves and smacks Vandervoort's nose to jump at the blonde thereafter and pummel her back to the turnbuckle in close range galore. Laura sags behind her guard and drops the aggressive stance; has to weather a late Hawaiian storm that really gives the crowd something to cheer about!
Round 3: Nicole ignites some pace into her actions and as both women charge at each other, she ducks under a high approach to crash into the blonde's boobs and wobble her on the back foot. A quick uppercut sends Laura's head rocking and another one bumps her on the eye to trigger some Canadian moaning; Scherzinger's fast to pounce on the suddenly vulnerable oppoenent and since the blonde refuses to clinch the singer, she gets pummelled back to the ropes and almost stumbles over a hole in the sand in the proccess. Nicole finds another clubbing hook on the right eye and dominates the close range thereafter; she targets the blonde's head but reverts into a ribcage drill in the dying seconds as Laura wobbled forward after another loose step and just couldn't escape the heat with the brunette finding her mojo for good after a terrible start.
Round 4: Another feisty start from Scherzinger enables her to close the actress down; Laura becomes too predictable in the overhand swings and fails to maintain her distance as the singer kicks some extra sand at her tummy before going almost all-in and blasting a cross hook against the mouth. Vandervoort just couldn't find her balance on the sand and almost jammed her knee there; subsequently she soaks up a jabbing frenzy with Nicole forging ahead with utmost work rate and pounding her back to the ropes afterwards. Laura struggles to stretch her arms in such a position and finally applies some clinch; ref separates them briefly but turns a blind eye after Nicole drills the actress with a low jab on the waistline and moves up for the chest amid loud yelps from the Canadian. Nicole has the blonde trapped for remainder of the round and gives her a solid body punishment, if Vandervoort looked slow in the last couple of rounds, she looks kinda dismayed here and far away from the beach pouncing queen status whereas Scherzinger begins to make some gestures to the crowd already!
Round 5: Laura catches a second wind though and beats the brunette for a vicious overhand on the nose to assume early control in the fifth and just move on from there with mid range spiking that neutralizes the singer in sluggish response. Both girls kicks a lot of sand and start to dig themselves in a circled hole in the middle of the ring with neither of them capable of reeling her opponent back. Nicole battles off the mid distance struggle but loses the momentum and almost stumbles over her right ankle after one quick deke too many, yet Laura lets her off the hook and looks happy just to break the Hawaiian stride despite her corner urging her to increase the pressure on the older rival. Both women drill each other with eyes full of wrath and the blonde has developed a small swelling around the right eye which she seems only to notice after the bell which only fuels her will to become more aggressive again.
Round 6: And here comes the Canadian beach queen rocking some raven black hair straight around the singer's neck. A carbon copy of the fast tempo assault that catches Scherzinger sitting on her heels and it becomes rather obvious she's not gonna wear the blonde out with the infrequent body attacks. She has to yield real estate quickly but Laura's all-in anyway and rocks her with more piercing jabs between the mitts and has Nicole tripping over her feet in hectic avoidance which sends her butt-in-ropes and bouncing off into a vicious left hook that slams her on the mouth and renders inactive on the ropes. Laura comes crashing in but skims off the temple after Nicole almost slides down on her bums; both women clatter into each other's chest and lose their balance alltogether... and down they go in the sand where Nicole mounts the blonde and refuses to let go as Vandervoort kicks out in frustration calling for referee's help. We have a slight delay and Laura's really mad over the otherwise accidental takedown while trying to remove sand from her outfit... however this only gives Nicole more time to recover and what's worse, the clock wasn't stopped and has the Canadian FUMING like a mad hatter after the bell signals the premature end to the round with the Foxfire team questioning the time keeping. The crowd has other ideas and silences the protests with a massive whistle "applause", eventually Laura just shakes her gloves and screams out at the singer to watch out now!
Round 7: Another Canadian blitz coming? Wrong! Laura stumbles into a hole and almost goes down on her knees as Nicole riffles her on the counter and improves the swelling around the right eye through the opening minute. The blonde begins to almost yelp her heart out in disarray as she gets caught in close range again until she finds a hook on the solar plexus to stun the brunette and bend her to the side as the crowd's chants dwindle in a hurry... Vandervoort with a huge punch on the nose that whips Nicole spinning into the corner again and results in a classic chase & weave tactics thereafter with Nicole unable to outwork the fast moving actress and unwilling to brawl it out in apparent suicidal mode... Laura has her covered though and spikes the gloves lower and lower before clubbing one hook on the nose too many that bursts the nostrils and makes Scherzinger scream out her loudest... watch those jelly Hawaiian legs now! Vandervoort has sparks in her eyes and almost orders Nicole to go down for the count... BUT NO!!! The local favorite hangs on and fires a left hook that catches a totally unprepared blonde on the ear and sends her straight into a right hand follow up that nails her on the nose AND SPINS IN THE AIR BEFORE A HEAVY FACE-FIRST LANDING IN THE SAND... Nicole aches out herself and bellows out onto the turnbuckle almost spitting her mouthpiece out and she's really tired here after a tough middle minute but boy, DID SHE SMOKE VANDERVOORT COLD... Laura lifts her face full of sand and damn, she won't stop that bleeding anytime soon but the clock expires before the ref can start the count... Oooh! Oooh! Now that's not what the crowd wanted to hear and apparently Foxfire head trainer threw her sunglasses at the judges table which caused one of them to hit the bell hoping for an instant knockout only to lose his mind over Laura's butt sticking up there when she was down flat on her face... pandemonium in the Waimea Bay but Vandervoort CRAWLS back to her corner and won't accept a TKO now and the ref knows the bout could be ruled a no contest especially after what happened at the end of the sixth!
Round 8: So we're back for the eight round but Laura just can't shrug that knockdown off and that was a sort of punch that Eva Mendes once laid Nicole herself out cold which only speaks volumes of the blonde's resistance but she needs more time to recover and when she jams her ankle in one of the numerous holes in the sand there's no coming back and the singer traps her in a flurry of jabs that destroy the guard with every punch landed... Laura sways back & forth on her feet and as Nicole romps her face into a bruised wreck, she just can't put her down anymore... still, how many unanswered shots can the Canadian endure? The ref has lost the count and even Claudia Schiffer looks like getting punched herself in the LCA corner... Vandervoort's out on her feet and bleeding from the nose again, eyes closed, arms dropped by the waist... and Nicole runs out of gas as she loses the drill and spits out her guard in frustration before moaning out 'C'mon, the #### on!", Laura's head snaps one more time AND THAT IS THAT... the man in charge finally steps in and drags the gassing out brunette off her prey with Laura just tumbling down on her bums after getting "accidentally" tripped over by the ref... cue in the ukuleles and let's start the party! Gruesome TKO8 Nicole Scherzinger!!!
AFTER: The Waimea Bay crowd errupts in joy and that's the way to bring the victory home! That must be one of the best victories for Scherzinger to date even though she looked out of sorts at times and worked extra hard to score the stoppage. The Foxfire crew is livid though, the singer still had to rely on the ref's decision to stop it even if Laura was out on her feet. Controversy marks the end of the sixth round too but Vandervoort was given the leeway in the seventh after a near-certain KO masterpiece from the brunette. All in all, this one had EVERYTHING a beach boxing Main Event needs spare the post-fight humiliation as the fallen actress is crowded out by Foxfire's bodyguard crew and in no shape to even acknowledge her demise. Goodbye to the old queen and long live the new queen! At least over at the Hawaiian landscape!
Nicole's really tired after an epic duell that almost pulled the plug on her when it mattered the most. Who knows if she'd have recovered to weather the Canadian storm after the sixth round? But that's what you call the home turf advantage and the singer remembers how often the Asylum walls choked their opposition into a swift demise through all her years at Front Street. "I almost miss those people, now!", she says while enjoyng a cocktail in Joanna Krupa's and Jennifer Ellison's company few minutes after the fight, "And I know Grace Park will never admit it, but she's never been a real queen in Hawaii no matter if they run that little show of hers longer than Days Of Our Lives! Laura Vandervoort had more guts accepting this trip than Grace's grandchildren combined! Ahh... I need to vent out my frustration now since Tess Valmore doesn't like me anymore either! Wanna hear some spicy bits? Well, first turn off your mics people... it's all down to the fly on the wall now!"
Final result: Nicole Scherzinger def. Laura Vandervoort TKO8.
