Ariana Grande vs. Samia Ghadie
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Ariana all confidence coming in, no surprise, considering both the source and the fact that she and Ghadie have met before. "She can't deal with me," Ariana says with a smirk. "I'm too athletic, too strong, too tough. And she's too OLD."

Ghadie fuming in the pre-fight. She's getting no respect at all from her younger rival, and she's not happy about it. "She's a little brat who needs a good spanking, and I'm just the girl to give it to her. She's going down and out tonight, and, I won't be responsible for what happens after that!"

ROUND ONE:

Grande quickly making with the legs. She wants to dance and work the jab, make Samia chase, and punish her for doing it. Ghadie has seen this act before, though. She keeps the gloves up, works the feet, looks to cut the ring down. Ariana all movement, smooth, quick, bouncing, jabbing reversing...ROCKED! What? ROCKED! Samia steps forward, cuts, and, as Grande reverses, the Brit NAILS her with a right hand! Grande is hurt, stumbling, nearly going down. And Ghadie now looking to make good on her pre-fight promise. Samia all OVER Grande, thumping away, driving her back into the ropes, and giving the younger woman a beating. Grande shaken several times, nearly going down more than once. She's doing enough to keep the referee from stopping it, but just. It's all Samia as she swings away with both hands right to the bell, leaving Ariana scuffed and unsteady on her way back to the corner and down 10-9 on the cards.

ROUND TWO:

Samia looking a little punched out as the second begins. Grande doesn't have the legs all the way back, but she has enough to circle and force the Brit to stalk. Samia doing that, but not getting off much. Ariana popping the jab, playing for time and space, and getting both from Ghadie, who's clearly feeling the effects of all the effort she put into trying to take the younger woman out in the first. Grande has an opening here, perhaps, but she's not in any condition or mood to try to take advantage of it. She wants to move, jab, run clock, give herself some time to shake the cobwebs, and that's exactly what she does. Samia eventually figures out the game and goes along with it. She stalks slowly, conserving energy, giving herself some time to recover from the first, but always looking one big punch that might replicate what she did in the first round. She doesn't find it, and, at the bell, it's Grande's jabs that have won a low-scoring round to even things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Samia's got something in the tank again and she's after Ariana in earnest. Grande bouncing and jabbing, having some success doing that now, as the cobwebs have mostly gone away. But, Ghadie continues to show excellent footwork, cutting Grande off and creating exchanges, exchanges that Samia's getting the better of, much to the surprise of the younger woman and some of the folks at ringside. Ghadie putting punches together well, going head-body-head, forcing Grande to keep the flurries short and get out of dodge. It's good stuff from the beautiful Brit, who's taken a lot of beatings in the FCBA. She's not exactly giving one out in this round, but she's holding her own and doing more than that against one of the more exciting young flyweight prospects. It's good, exciting, competitive stuff, but Samia's simply getting more work done and creating terms she likes more often than Ariana. At the bell, it's Ghadie again, and she's up again 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Good, two-way tactical stuff from bell to bell. Ariana working those athletic legs, bouncing all over the ring, snapping out jabs, stopping, popping, then bouncing away again. Ghadie working just as hard to cut down the space the younger woman has to operate, amd she does it well, forcing those exchanges that allow Samia to get the better of the boxing. It's an action-packed round, with both women having the advantage on the terms they want, both very busy, both throwing punches in bunches, and both scoring effectively. This is good stuff from Grande, but that's no surprise, as, again, she's a hot prospect. But, Ghadie, who's become thought of as little more than a hot girl for the other side of the poster is showing she can be more than that. She's boxing well, boxing smart, making Grande work hard for everything she gets. At the bell, it's a close one to Ariana, who has gotten back to even at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Grande showing even more movement. She's determined to work in space, despite the best efforts of the lovely Brit. Samia not exactly pressuring. She doesn't want to close, just limit movement so that she can box at mid-range, where she's most comfortable. Again, it's good, tactical stuff from both fighters, a good, two-way round. And then it becomes a one-way round all of a sudden. It's a lightning right from Grande that catches Ghadie on the chin and unhinges her legs. Samia staggers, but manages to stay on her feet. Ariana, however, is all over her immediately, battering the little Brit viciously with both hands. Samia gets the guard high and Grande goes rack, bringing it down, and then she lands a three-punch combination that brings Ghadie down. Samia crumples face-first to the mat and stays there, softly crying, well past the count of ten, making your winner, by KO5, Ariana Grande!

AFTER:

Grande doesn't bother with any post-fight shenanigans, and she makes clear why in her comments. "She's not in my league," Ariana says with a smirk. "Like I said before the fight, I have too much of everything for her. She was OK to put on my dance card earlier in my career, to get me some work, but, I'm beyond a girl like that now. I'm the top young flyweight in the FCBA, and everybody better get used to it, especially that bytch McCurdy, because she's NEXT..."
