TESS VALMORE

GRIMES/KANE This was a good fight to start off the card. Kane took the first two rounds and Grimes the next two. Kane forged back into the lead by winning rounds five and six. The seventh proved to be the crucial rounds as Kane was fouled first and then Grimes was fouled. Grimes came out of the round in better shape than Kane. In the eighth. Grimes worked Kane’s body until her guard dropped and then finished her with some chin checking. Grimes KO8

GRANDE/GHADIE If I was going to have a team of fighters to represent me in a tournament. Ghadie would not be on it. There was no surprise here. The fight was even at two and even at four. In the fifth Ghrande caught Ghadie with a right to the chin and then went on a rampage ending Ghadie’s night with a three punch combination

SEYDOUX/M. FOX This bout followed the pattern of the first two in that the bout was even at the end of four. In the fifth, Seydoux dropped Fox with a short fight hand. Fox managed to get to her feet at the count of seven and finish the round. In the sixth, four straight to Fox’s face dropped her again, this time for the full count

BENSON/S. MILLER I don’t know who Sienna Miller is supposed to be representing. Both she and Benson are Americans and members of the FCBA. That said, the winner of the match was a given. I didn’t give Benson much of a chance, but she managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I had Benson way ahead on the cards at the end of seven. In the eighth. the showboating Benson bought hook, line and sinker into Miller’s possum act and was rewarded with a barrage to the body and sent her to the canvas. Benson go up only to be rewarded with a flurry of punches that ended the fight with a KO8 Miller

PIPER/KRUEK The two put on a fine fight. Piper took the first two rounds and Kreuk the next two, giving Piper a beating in round four. Piper won round five, but Kreuk evened the fight by handing Piper another beating in round six. In the seventh a Kruek right hand sent Piper to the canvas. She beat the count only to be pounded along the ropes until the referee stopped the fight

WILKERSON/HAZELL JMD. I was down in the bar. Boy, that Dark and Stormy was good

HALE/BUENA Buena had won six of seven in the BBU. Her introduction to the FCBA was not exactly a triumph She won only two of the six rounds that the bout lasted. In the sixth, a Hale right dropped Buena. She did beat the count, however Hale swarmed all over her punching her helpless and the fight was stopped

PORTMAN/COLEMAN Coleman is one of he prime fighters of the BBU and probably their best knockout artist with a superlative record. Portman is a member of the Hall Of Fame. Coleman is a slugger, Portman more of a boxer. That combination can go either way, but in this case it went the way of the slugger. The fight was even at the end of six, however Coleman had hurt Portman in the fifth and Portman returned the favor in the sixth. Coleman, again, hurt Portman in the seventh. In the eighth, Coleman landed a right hand to Portman’s head and followed up with left hook that sent Portman down for the count

HENNIG/TURNER This was a bout between two comparatively newbies. Should have probably opened the card, You know, if you came late for the card, you didn’t really miss anything. Hennig took three of the first four rounds. The fifth went to Turner who managed to land a lot of heavy punches. She continued her punching in the sixth, sending Hennig down with a left/right combination. Hennig beat the count, the referee let the bout continue for a very short time. When it became apparent that Hennig was completely defenseless and he stopped the fight

HOLLAND/PALMER Palmer was the underdog in the bout, but surprisingly she won three of the first four rounds. In fifth, Holland worked on Palmer’s body and in the sixth, made Palmer chase her. It was a weary Palmer who came out for the seventh only to meet a blitz of punches from Holland that sent Palme down for the count

KNIGHTLY/CYRUS Knightly has fought most of her career in the FCBA, however has been basically inactive in the last four years only having three bouts. Although she ate some pretty good shots form Cyrus, Knightly had the lead at the end of five by using her legs and moving. Unfortunately for her, by the start of the sixth her tank was running on empty and Cyrus had field day rocking Knightly with punches. The Cyrus punching continued into the seventh and finally she landed a big right hand that ended the fight with Knightly face down on the canvas

FISHEL/BANGHARD JMD. I was back down the the bar. Had a great Sazerac. I understand that Fishel won

BECKINSALE/MUNN Beckinsale did better than I expected however that doesn’t mean she won. She didn’t. The bout was even at four with Beckinsale hurting Munn in the third and Munn hurting Beckinsale in the fourth. Kate got the lead back in the fifth. Her dreams of victory ended in the sixth as Munn landed a straight right and a left jab that send Beckinsale down for the count

LIMA/LAWRENCE A prime fight on any card. It was a fight that delivered what it promised with lots of action. The fight was even and four and even at six. In the seventh Lawrence came out power punching and sent Lima down for an eight count. Lima hadn’t recovered at the start of the eighth and fell victim to more power punching until she finally went down for the count

MARSH/C. BELL JMDD. Back down in the bar. Great Rusty Nail. Understand Bell lost. She has to be fed a loser to win. She got fed a loser and still lost. Is she ever going to get the message?

LOHAN/PENDER It’s JMD and It’s Lohan. My chocolate martini was probably better than this mess. Who won? It’s like the difference between ignorance and ambivalence. I don’t know and I don’t care

STRAVHOSKI/KRUPA I didn’t think this would be much of a fight, but Krupa surprised me to some extent. The bout was back and forth, tied at the end of two, four and six with Yvonne having a good round in six. In the seventh, a flurry of the champion’s punches sent Krupa stumbling around until a right hook put the challenger on the canvas for the count.

REGAN/LANCASTER Lancaster had won the welter tournament but few gave her a chance when it came to beating Regan. Me included. The fight went as expected with Regan winning three of the first four and four of six. Lancaster staged a mild comeback in the seventh. In the eighth with Regan looking to finish, Lancaster landed a right to the body and a left cross that caught Regan flush on the jaw and Regan went down for the count. Lancaster is the new welter champion in the upset of the year.
